Rod’s Discovery Tour Experience

Rod is a 72-year old American who booked a 4-day Discovery Tour because he didn’t want to figure things out on his own. Originally, he thought he’d need to stay in Cebu for three months just to understand the city. But with local guidance from Kevin, he quickly got a clear, realistic view of what life could look like.

One of Rod’s top priorities? A place near the beach where he could take daily walks—but still be within city limits. During the tour, he was able to visit multiple neighborhoods, check out condos in person, and compare options based on what mattered most to him. And yes—he found the spot that fit just right.

With everything arranged ahead of time—from site visits to exploring nearby establishments—Rod got to ask all the right questions and receive honest, on-the-ground answers. By the end of the trip, he had a solid head start and a confident plan for his move to Cebu.

I did pay for a Discovery Tour, and it was well worth the money and time. Kervin is intelligent and insightful as he navigates through the itinerary as well as daily life for Filipinos. We conversed for hours about the sociology, history, and future in the Philippines as he drove through the streets and walked on foot.  

As I just got done yesterday with Kervin’s Discovery Tour, I am way more comfortable with a life in the Philippines specifically Cebu City/Mactan. He covered transporting my two pittie mixes, budget, transportation, locations of various locations (hospitals, ferry, residentials subdivisions that allow dogs, markets, malls, restaurants, and the PRA Office, to name a few).
